Vestry
What is the Vestry?
In the Episcopal church, a vestry is the elected governing board of a parish. Serving three-year terms, they are responsible for the overall management and organization of the church. The Canons of the Diocese of East Carolina dictate "The Vestry shall act as the Trustees of the Parish, shall take charge of the property of the Parish, and shall regulate the temporal concerns of the Parish."
Each Vestry member at St. Paul's is asked to lead a ministry of the church to assist the staff in managing the various ministries.

Election of our Vestry
Each year, church members elect four new parishioners to serve a three-year term on the St. Paul's Vestry. Vestry nominees must be adult communicants in good standing. The Constitution of the Diocese of East Carolina indicates communicants in good standing are:

-
A member of the Episcopal Church, either by confirmation or by reception by a Bishop in to the Episcopal Church.
-
A member who has received Holy Communion in this Church at least three times during the preceding year.
-
A member who for the previous year has been faithful in corporate worship, unless for good cause prevented, and has been faithful in working, praying, and giving for the spread of the Kingdom of God.
-
An adult member who is 16 years of age or older.
