EPISCOPAL CHURCH WOMEN

Meets every second Tuesday
Noon in Parish Hall

Every woman of St. Paul's is considered to be a member of Episcopal Church Women.

Please join us at our lunch meetings on the second Tuesday of the month. Regular ECW business is conducted and we often have a speaker, on topics varied and interesting.

We seek to know Jesus Christ better and to reach out to others in His name. In fulfilling this mission of St. Paul’s, we support many groups and organizations, within and without our parish and community with prayer, hard work and regular financial contributions:
-
Local schools and the Boys & Girls Club
-
Agencies providing services to families and children
-
Our local food pantry and the Episcopal Farmworkers’ Ministry
-
Youth scholarships for Episcopal meetings, conventions & Trinity Center
-
Missionaries in and out of our parish, and in other states and countries
In addition to our regular monthly meetings, we hold fundraisers throughout the year:
-
Providing lunch to the local Rotary Club every week.
-
Making lunches for other groups throughout the year, such as the local garden club.
-
Holding a Food Fair once a year, selling main dishes and desserts.
-
Serving on the Altar Guild—caring for and preparing God’s Table.
-
Conducting he yearly United Thank Offering, donations with which the parish thanks God for our many blessings in our everyday life.
-
Participating in the yearly Ecumenical Holy Week service and provide lunch one day of that week.
-
Taking part in a song and prayer service at a local nursing home at Christmas time and helping residents make wreaths.

ALTAR GUILD
Liturgy begins and ends with the work of the Altar Guild. To care for the sacred vessels, the bread and the wine, the fair linens and hangings and the candles and torches used for worship in the Sanctuary is far more than a task, it is a true ministry.
The duty of the altar guild is to prepare all the things necessary for the celebration of the Eucharist or any of the other sacraments and offices of the church. The altar guild is a ministry of service and a dedication to beauty—a gift of time and talent serving God in the Sanctuary. The altar guild assists the priest in leading worship by providing a sacred space of order and peace. They set the tone of the liturgy, ensuring the communion vessels are set, the flowers are in place, and oil is in the candles.
The church depends on members of the guild to polish the silver and brass items in the church, to keep the altar linens in good shape by washing, ironing, and repairing, and to update the hymn boards weekly. The Altar Guild also prepares communion kits for the priest and Eucharistic Visitors to visit those unable to attend services.
The members of the St. Paul's Altar Guild provide an invaluable ministry to both the people and the priest, and enable the whole church to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. If you feel called to join this ministry, please contact the church office to get connected to our altar guild chairs!

It's usually held in the fall (sometimes spring as well), on Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m. at the Edenton Bay Trading Company. It's ecumenical, with most attendees coming from St. Paul's but also folks from Edenton Baptist, Edenton Methodist, the Catholic Church, Open Door, and even Greens Cross Baptist in Bertie County. Check our Events page to see if one is currently taking place.
